Purpose and Benefits This Retreat

This retreat focuses solely on the recitation of the mantra OM MANI PADME HUNG. Verbal recitation is encouraged so as to develop within the individual the deepest qualities of mindfulness, compassion, and peace, through the blessings of Avalokiteshvara ( Guanyin ) and a pure mind. The merit accumulated will be dedicated towards Well–being of World Peace, Economy & Health.

Why 100 Million?

"By reciting one hundred Million Mani, all the myriad living organisms in your body will be blessed by Avalokiteshvara ( Guanyin ), and when you die even the smoke from the cremation of your corpse will have the power to protect whoever inhales it from rebirth in the lower realms." — Karandaryuha Sutra 《宝箧经》

Why Group Practice?

Group practice is analogous to a drop of water merging with the great ocean. Hence, the amount of merits accumulated by each practitioner is the same as that accumulated by the entire group. Similarly, through participating in the 100 million Mani mantra recitation retreat, the amount of merits each participant accumulate is equivalent to that of individually reciting the Six-Syllable mantra a 100 million times.
